Maine’s Northwestern Mountains Region is a wonderful area to see birds and other wildlife. With our vast wilderness acreage and pristine Flagstaff Lake, just about any bird that comes to the northeast can be found along with many species of waterfowl.
The many home feeders in this area will attract the common species- chickadees, sparrows, juncos, nuthatches, hummingbirds, cardinals, jays, woodpeckers, and doves to name a few. Be sure to have your camera handy as the opportunity could suddenly arise for that special picture of a bald eagle, sandpiper or one of several owls that make their home in the area.
If the opportunity arises to be on Flagstaff Lake, there are waterfowl and shore birds along with families of loons or an occasional bald eagle high in the shore trees watching you while you are watching them!
