Burnt Mountain Cat Skiing is the new winter experience at Sugarloaf, and it is the first true cat skiing operation in New England. The terrain on Burnt Mountain and in Brackett Basin® is aptly described as “side-country”; it offers skiers and riders varied terrain from tight tree skiing to wide-open glades. For years, Burnt Mountain was only accessible to those willing to hike or to ski in. Now you can save your energy and expend it on a short climb, and then a drop into 100+acres of powder on the eastern boundary of Burnt.
Put on your fat skis or powder board and you’ll feel like a celebrity. And if you’re lucky enough to be riding powder snow, you’ll feel like a complete star. With cat skiing there are miles and miles of lines of fresh powder to explore, as opposed to the lines that may be found at the ski lifts.
