Hardwood Log Requirements-
• Length: 16’6”
• Trim Allowance: 5” Minimum
• Diameter: 10” Minimum, 36” Maximum on big end
• Two-inch sweep and crooks are acceptable; however, each log must yield a full length
8" timber.
• All knots and butt swells must be trimmed flush with the stem.
• Logs must be the product of fresh cut timber.
• Scaling Defects that will warrant a cull log include crooks, forks, rot, seams, shake,
splits, sweep, voids, worm holes, and timber breaks.
Hemlock Log Requirements-
• Length: 16’6” & 20’6”
• Trim Allowance: 5” Minimum
• Diameter: 10” Minimum on 16’6” and 14” Minimum on 20’6”
36” Maximum on big end
• Two-inch sweep and crooks are acceptable; however, each log must yield a full length
8" timber on 16’6” logs and 12” timber on 20’6” logs.

All cull logs are to be picked up within 2 weeks of being delivered or they will become the property of Maine Timber Mats.
All log scale decisions are final
