The Lexington Highland Historical Society is a non-profit organization working toward making our Historical Museum a place filled with valued artifacts that represent the way folks lived and worked in the local area, sometimes calling on their true Yankee ingenuity to forge out this community that has persevered through many hardships and years.

Come visit our Museum and see for yourself some of the vintage household items and furniture that has been donated and our barn, blacksmith shop, summer kitchen and shed that is equipped with an original “2 holer” and a replica of and old Sears catalogue.

The house is a replica of the Lydia Boynton House which Rose Taylor Dexter had built circa 1915-1920. This house sat in the triangle between the Long Falls Dam Road and the Back Road with a large barn across the Long Falls Dam Road. Jim Taylor, Rose’s grandson, led a volunteer team to build the Historical Museum complex.

We also have a Veterans Memorial in honor of all Veterans, past and present, from Lexington and Highland.

Raised-bed flower, vegetable and herb gardens are adjacent to the house and dedicated to Laura Dunham. A Community flower garden is in memory of Linda Taylor

We are open for tours and browsing on Friday and Saturday, 11 AM until 3 PM, from Memorial weekend through Labor Day. Our Gift Shop and bakery are available during these same times.
